Covert Operations? Yeah, right.

How does a video game franchise based on covert-ops get leaked all over the internet?

Easy.

Street date: Nov.8.11

Since the recent capture of Osama bin Laden, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has turned its attention to more globally pressing matter: unearthing new intelligence regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

According to Joystiq"MW3 begins right where MW2 left off: with the US trying to prevent a Russian invasion. Your roles include a "Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner" as well as some old friends from previous MW games and some new characters, notably "Frost" and "Sandman."

It seems the series may be set to conclude its much beloved trilogy in typical Hollywood fashion. The game itself is set to take place in over 15 locals across the globe, including Paris, London, and New York.

As for all of those late night, want nothing to do with campaign, can't wait to prestige for the umpteenth time gamers, don't worry Activision hasn't forgotten about you. Multiplayer again will play a dominant role as the game is rumored to stand with an unprecedented 20 maps. The return of Spec Ops mode will be a nice welcome for all of those who missed the couch co-op aspect of the previous games. New to the franchise is a "Horde" mode, which will put you and your friends against an onslaught of ever increasingly difficult waves of enemies

Coincidentally, Gamestop has started offering a preorder bonus for reserving MW3: a giant double sided poster featuring your typical MW3 tuff-guy soldier art and logo on one side and a cryptic, mock Time Magazine cover depicting some of the main campaign events that unfold during the game. Normally something as standard as a poster wouldn't be something to drool over but the artistic depiction of the game is actually well done.

Tuff guys never looks at explosions dude

Wonder how much this cost?

Now realize this is all speculation, as the boys over at @fourzerotwo have already voiced. Some fake, some true. Nonetheless, all will be revealed next month at the E3 Expo going from June 7th until the 9th.

Until then I leave you all with the teaser trailer (which is actually quite boring) to watch over and over until next month.

  1. Meh saw the trailer the usual tease that doesn't show anything worth while. I am afraid to say but CoD is starting to get a bit stale. Unless the graphics are better than Battlefield 3. Then what's the big deal 20 maps oohhh. I don't have to drop 15 bucks every 4 months for new maps thats not enough. The horde mode sounds cool but we are dealing with humans not locusts. So what I need to hit them 5 times instead of 2. Have u seen what a FMJ round does to flesh. Ask a Taliban.....just my 2 rounds

  2. Usual hype teaser as expected for MW3. In all honesty I was excited for it, a year ago. Lots happened since then. Perhaps the loss of Jason West and Vince Zampella (among others) isn't an issue development wise, but they've got a mountain to climb. They're competing against themselves with Black Ops selling 12 million units as of December last year and still being #1 in XBL activity (MW2 is right behind it). And the fact that EA will put a lot of marketing behind Battlefield 3, which looks promising. I'll be looking forward to the videos from E3.
