Deus Ex: HUman Revolution and why you should care

Not a lot has been mentioned about the newest title coming up from the house of Square Enix. However stealthy it may appear, DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION will emerge on August 23rd  and will be rated M for mature. To say people have big expectations of this game would be a colossal understatement. Keep reading to find out if this sneaky cyberthriller is just what you've been waiting for...

1R1S
Its predecessor changed the formula completely by merging a perfect hybrid between RPG and FPS, much the same way Human Revolution means to merge cybernetics with human augmentation and the team over at Eidos Montreal has worked diligently to tell the story of Adam Jensen; a man cybernetically augmented against his choice that finds himself in the middle of a global conspiracy to which he holds the key. Without giving too much away I can wholeheartedly tell you that this is no Weapon X addimantium story.  Our hero is a security specialist for one of America’s most experimental biotech firms. After black op teams kill the very scientists he has been sworn to protect, Adam becomes mechanically augmented in an effort to find out the truth behind the attack and global conspiracy. Adam’s quest for truth will start in Detroit but will lead him to Montreal, Shanghai, and other undisclosed locations.

Yeah, I'm a Badass, and?

The story of “hero pushed to do what’s right through forced circumstances” has been done before, but it will never be done this way. Mainly, because the way the game is played is structured by the individual player. Although the science fiction is all around you the individual experience will greatly differ from player to player. To illustrate this further you must understand that the augmentations Adam will receive are not scripted, meaning players will decide exactly how Adams body is adapted throughout the campaign. Each modification will be lumped into one of four skill pillars: combat, hacking, stealth, or social skills (think Trinity in the Matrix). Players will decide what augmentations fit their unique play style in order to complete objectives. For example Adam may be able to add a cloaking ability or track targets using stealth mode while someone else may choose to modify Adam to launch explosives from his arms or fall from any height with no penalty for a much higher combat modification. However, be careful once a human modification has been made it cannot be reversed. These unique abilities will tailor a very specific and personal play style for everyone making a 25-hour campaign a 35-40 hour experience of gameplay for serious enthusiasts.

Bet he wishes you didn't know that.

Early advocates can receive exclusive bonuses from both GameStop and Facebook as ad campaigns are setting theirs sights on guerrilla marketing. GameStop is offering up an automatic unlocking device, a grenade launcher, and an additional mission as well as timed explosives. “Like” Deus EX:  HUMAN REVOUTION on Facebook and you will be treated to exclusive unlocks. I even heard a rumor about an elusive QR reader floating around…

Finally, if you haven’t viewed the trailers for this game, stop hating yourself and watch them just below as this title is easily one of the first blockbusters that's gonna sneak into your gaming rig next week.

  1. The first big name game after the summer lull. Thank you Jezzus!!! Cyberpunk themed games were all the rage in the late 90's and early 00's but only PC gamers expericened it.The Montreal studio behind this game is staying true to the original's game roots. Now that technology has caught up and story telling is much more intricate and engaging. I am happy to see this series return. Now if a Theif series game would be announced I would be an even happier gamer.
